IDONIAL Installs 3D Bioprinter at CIDETEC Facilities

On April 1st and 2nd, the IDONIAL team visited the CIDETEC facilities in San Sebastián to install the 3D bioprinting system designed and manufactured for the project as part of Work Package 2Design and Development of Customized 3D Bioprinting Protocol.

Dr Damien Dupin, FORCE REPAIR project coordinator at CIDETEC, welcomed the team from IDONIAL. Together, they successfully installed the bioprinter in the CIDETEC facilities, where the next testing phase will begin.

The bioprinter is based on a semi-solid extrusion system (SSE), with modular characteristics and optimal printing accuracies for this purpose (50 μm,) and with the possibility to be used in a standard laminar flow bench system, ensuring flexibility and ease of integration within laboratory environments.

Alongside the installation, the IDONIAL team led by Dr Helena Herrada conducted a comprehensive training session for the CIDETEC team. This session covered the operation of the equipment and the fundamentals of the 3D bioprinting process. This included generating simple STL models and G-code files to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the technology and preparing the team for using slicing and design software to create wound dressing models currently being developed by VICOMTECH.

The installation and training were completed successfully, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development and reinforcing collaboration between IDONIAL and CIDETEC.
